The Autotuner is our preferred tool for reading newer vehicles through the OBD port. It is easy to use, has no yearly fees, and has a wide range of tuneable vehicles. With that being said, the Autotuner will probably not be the first tuning tool we purchase, as its ability to read older vehicles via the OBD port is limited.

For new tuners, we recommend purchasing the Kess or CMD OBD tuning tool and then adding the Autotuner at a later stage. This will give you the best range of OBD tuning solutions for the widest variety of new and old vehicles. If your workshop mainly focuses on vehicles newer than 2015, the Autotuner might be your ideal tool.

One of the best OBD tuners for newer vehicles – The Autotuner is one of the best tuning tools for newer vehicles. The OBD tuning variety and the speed of writing and reading tuning files of newer vehicles are superior to other tools.

Price – Not having any subscription fees is a big plus point for the Autotuner. Yearly fees for other tuning tools can vary between 600 (€600) and 1500 Euro (€1500) depending on the options you select. Not good with OBD reading on older vehicles – As the Autotuner is a relatively new tuning tool, its ability to read older vehicles through the OBD port is limited. Popular ECU such as the MED17.5 that is used on older vehicles, for example, the Audi A1 1.4 and 1.8 TSI, Golf 6 GTI, etc. is not supported through the OBD port and requires the ECU to be removed to program the vehicle..5

DSG Tuning – The Autotuner cannot do DSG gearboxes at this stage. On cars such as the Golf 7R and Golf 7 GTI DSG, flashes are required, as the DSG boxes are known to limit torque on highly modified vehicles.
